COMPANY BIO
Joanna G Consultancy Ltd was set up in May 2013 following redundancy primarily to provide support to companies within the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, managing the deliverables associated with being a member of the PPRS Scheme (Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme), which ran up to and including 2018.
The vision was to be the trusted “safe pair of hands”; the specialist advisor managing all aspects of the scheme on behalf of the customer. This involves being responsible for all the financial modelling and interfaces with customer systems; managing audits and submitting the returns and payments to the department of health as well as understanding and effectively communicating the technical nuances of the schemes and how they can be leveraged to best effect. This vision has led to Joanna G Consultancy building a portfolio of clients (largely by word of mouth), being the interface between the company and the department of health for some key players in the industry.
About 95% of pharmaceutical companies who market and sell branded drugs in the UK opt to become a member of this scheme as it allows for freedom of pricing at launch for new active substances as well as facilitates a degree of commercial flexibility within the framework of voluntary negotiation.
In 2019, PPRS was replaced by the VPAS (Value Pricing and Access Scheme). This update required implementation planning, modelling and input into strategic decisions.
Aside from the industry specific work, the company has worked with other businesses mainly via personal contacts on a variety of projects such as streamlining process within a customer service environment, implementing financial controls and building bespoke flexible forecasting models.
The vision for Joanna G Consultancy going forward is a switch of focus from purely the pharmaceutical field to building a portfolio of smaller business clients, offering support with their challenges: whether that is with direction, financial reporting, longer term planning or streamlining process. A fresh pair of eyes with a proactive positive approach can be invaluable.
